The PGCE course focuses on enhancing your teaching skills, not the subject that you are intending to teach. So it is important that you have competent understanding of your given subject or subjects (normally degree level) before your commence training
How long does it take to complete a PGCE course?
A PGCE Course typically lasts for one year full-time if taken on a full-time basis or up to two years if taken part-time.
Where can you take a PGCE course?
You can undertake a PGCE course in the UK at a number of universities, colleges and online. Some schools participate in a programme called School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT).

What qualifications do you need?
To take a PGCE you must currently possess a UK undergraduate degree. You may also have an equivalent and recognised qualification. If you are unsure whether or not your qualification is the equivalent to the UK undergraduate degree, you can check with NARIC. |
